Snow Day

We have been housebound for days during this crazy snow weather! I did manage to bundle up Emery and get her out in the snow once. She wasn't too sure!
My favorite thing about our house...the view!

Bundled up and ready to go!

She didn't really know what to do with herself!

First Birthday Bash!

Emery's first birthday party was a blast! She had so much fun, and boy, did she LOVE cake! Emery was in a great mood the whole time and loved opening presents. We were so blessed to have so many friends and family join us to celebrate this sweet, beautiful little girl.

The Big One!

Our little "baby" is 1!! It is so hard to believe that a whole year has gone by since we held that precious girl in our arms for the first time. There are just so many things we love about her, it's hard to know where to start!

The past few weeks have brought lots of new changes. Emery is walking all over the place now! She is quite the mover. Which means we will now be baby
proofing the rest of the rooms in our house. Yikes! It's amazing how quickly she went from taking a few steps to walking all the way across the room. I was so anxious for her to hit that milestone, and now there's no turning back. We will be running after her for the rest of our lives! Over the past two weeks, we have transitioned from formula to milk, and bottle to sippy cup. She had a rough couple of days adjusting, but now she is a champ! She loves her milk and really doesn't seem to miss her bottle anymore. Of course I probably spent a hundred dollars on different sippy cups only to find out she really doesn't care what you give her now. We have also transitioned completely off of baby food. And let me tell you, this girl can eat! Since she started walking, it's like we can't feed her enough. There are some days when I just have to stop her because I'm pretty certain a one year old shouldn't be eating that much!

Despite having a cold, Emery had a great time on her birthday. We started off the morning with yummy cinnamon rolls. Emery loved them!

After we played for a while, we headed to Creative Hands, a place whe
re you can paint pottery. I thought it would be fun to make Emery a birthday plate that she can use for her cake every year. I wouldn't say she is going to be Picasso, but she had fun painting (and eating paint).

On our way to Creative Hands. Facing forward like a big girl!

After pottery, we headed to Fuzzy's Tacos to meet daddy for lunch. I didn't realize it until later, but that is the same food we had on the day Emery was born. When the doctor sent me home from the hospital, the nurse told me to go home and eat a good lunch in case I had to come back. Fuzzy's was my food of choice.
After lunch, we headed home and watched Baby Einstein...Emery's absolute favorite. Then it was time for afternoon nap.

Lunch at Fuzzy's!

We played some more until daddy got home, and then Mimi and Tetaw came over to visit. Emery opened her vacuum cleaner and had so much fun playing with it!

Our plan was to keep Emery up until 8:19, her time of birth, so we could get a picture of her next to the clock. Our electricity provider had different plans. The power went out at 7:45, and there wasn't much to do except send our sweet girl to bed. So there came the end to an eventful day. The day our baby became a toddler. As hard as it has been for me to accept how quickly time is passing, I must say it was a great, happy day. Only a few tears on my part, and the rest smiles. We love you so much, Emery Grace. You have brought so much joy, happiness, and laughter to our lives. It has only been a year, but we feel like we've had you forever, and we truly don't know what we'd do without you in our lives!

Eleven Months...the Countdown Begins!

Emery turned 11 months on Christmas Day. It is just so unbelievable how quickly time goes. It is such an amazing gift to watch her little personality flourish every day. She is just so full of positive energy! The day after Emery turned 11 months, she took 4 or 5 steps by herself! I was so excited and preparing the house for the next big change, but then she sort of stopped trying to walk. I was a little bit worried until we found out a week later that she had a double ear infection. The doctor said it could be affecting her balance. Sure enough, after a few days of antibiotics, she is starting to try to walk again! It is still very hit or miss. Sometimes she shows no interest in walking. Poor girl has been sick for most of the holidays recently. She had a bad cough and fever on Thanksgiving, fever on Christmas Eve, and fever on New Year's Day. I know that the first winter is tough and she needs to build immunities, but it is just so heartbreaking to see her so miserable. Despite her constant colds, she is still a happy girl most of the time. She says dada, bye bye, and mama (only when she's crying). She waves, points, and tries to sign "more." She loves to harrass the dogs and get into the tupperware in the kitchen. That and the kitchen towels are the only cabinets we haven't locked because she loves them so much! I can't wait for the next year of adventures!

Sick with ear infections...her eyes look so sad!
