Six Months!

Wow! Emery has blessed us with her presence for 6 months now! I can hardly believe it. She is more and more fun to be around every day. She has a smile that just melts your heart! Everywhere I take her, people comment on how much she smiles. I can't tell you how many times I've hears "She's the happiest baby I've ever seen." Followed by, "You realize how lucky you are, right?" Yes, I do realize it! There is rarely a time when she is crying about something that can't be easily solved. Most of the time, she just smiles. She even smiled at her nurse today through her tears after her shots. It was pretty adorable, I must say.

We got her 6 month pictures taken a week early, and I was already in tears by the time I saw the third picture! I wish that I could post them on here for you all to see...our photographer truly did an amazing job of capturing her fun-loving personality. The pictures are so "her".

Everything went well at her doctor's appointment. At 6 months, she is 19 pounds (95th percentile) and 26.5 inches (75th-90th percentile). The doctor said she is about the height of an 8 month old, and the weight of a 9 month old. This would explain why she's been wearing 6-9 month clothes for two months now, and why perfect strangers comment on how "healthy" she is. That is apparently the new code word for chunky. I am perfectly ok with that. She is happy, active, playful, and "healthy"...and that's just fine with me!

Emery has had a lot of developmental milestones recently, too. With in the past two weeks, she has mastered sitting up. She can sit up for a good 20 minutes without any problems, unless something startles her. When she gets startled, her arms flail in the air and she tumbles over. Pretty amusing to watch!

Another milestone that is both exciting and nerve-wracking...she can pull up on all fours and rock back and forth. I think she may be crawling pretty soon! I can see her trying to push off with one leg. I spent my afternoon online trying to buy things to child proof the house because I just know the one dangerous thing I miss will be the thing she gets into!

Tomorrow we start on veggies. I am thinking about carrots first. We'll see how she does! It's funny how eating is such a learning experience for her. When I watch her eat her rice cereal, I can just see her mind working, trying to figure out exactly what she is tasting.

Tomorrow I will post more pictures. Happy 6 months, Sweet Emery. We love you!

This is the smile I have the pleasure of seeing on a daily basis.
